What is Aquascaping?
Aquascaping is the art of arranging aquatic plants, stones, rocks, driftwood, and substrates in an aesthetically pleasing way within an aquarium. Unlike a conventional aquarium, in aquascaping the fish are not necessarily the main focus, but rather just another element that complements the landscape.
It is based on three fundamental pillars:
- Hardscape: The inert structure composed of rocks and roots. It is the backbone of the design.
- Softscape: The vegetation and living organisms that bring life and texture to a space.
- Harmony: The visual balance that creates a sense of real nature.
