Spring (Temperature rises to 10°C+)
- The fish are waking up — immunosuppressed after the winter
- Health inspection: check for sores, parasites, and winter damage
- Gradually restart the filter (add nitrifying bacteria if necessary)
- Feed with caution — slow digestion at temperatures up to 15°C
- Partial water change (20%) to refresh the water
- Check your plants — prune those damaged by the cold
Summer (> 20°C)
- High temperatures reduce O₂ — add extra aeration on hot nights
- Active feeding — 2–3 times a day
- Monitor NO₃ and NH₃ — maximum load
- Weekly water changes (10–20%)
- Remove leaves and debris regularly
- Check the water level (evaporation)
Fall (Low temperature of 15°C)
- Gradually reduce food intake
- Feed them low-protein wheat pellets (which are easier to digest at low temperatures)
- Clean the filter before the temperature drops completely
- Remove fallen leaves from nearby trees (they release tannins and lower the pH)
- Prune plants before they die
Winter (< 10°C)
- See the "Wintering" section for the complete protocol
