Daily Routine
DAILY ROUTINE
What to Do Every Day
Observation (5 minutes):
- Are all the fish present and active?
- Are there any that are unusually hidden or look bad?
- Have they eaten all of the previous meal?
- Is the water clear?
- Are there any dead fish? (A dead fish can contaminate the aquarium in a matter of hours.)
Temperature:
- Check the temperature with the thermometer
- In the summer → check to make sure the temperature hasn't risen to dangerous levels (>30°C for tropical plants)
Food:
- Give them just the right amount (only what they can eat in 2–3 minutes)
- Check to see if everyone is eating normally
In nautical terms:
- Check salinity (daily evaporation can increase density by 0.001–0.002)
- Verify that the ATO is working
- Check the coral reefs → if any are closed → investigate
